About Scholarship
The British Council Scotland SGSAH EARTH Scholarships provide full financial support to enable international research partnerships between PhD and early-career researchers, Scottish universities, mentors, and external organisations.
The program has a particular focus on the role of arts and humanities in addressing climate change and encourages interdisciplinary research across STEAM fields (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics).
Scholarship recipients will have the opportunity to work with an academic mentor in Scotland, access resources at a Scottish host university, and participate in a cohort development program and summer school.
The scholarships cover travel, accommodation, and living expenses for research placements lasting 6 weeks to 3 months between April and July 2025.

Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for the British Council Scotland SGSAH EARTH Scholarships, applicants must:
- Be currently enrolled in a PhD program or have graduated with a PhD from a non-UK university
- Have a research project broadly falling under Arts & Humanities subject areas (at least 50% for interdisciplinary projects)
