Since 2017, Sciences Po has partnered with the Mastercard Foundation to provide access to quality education for bright young Africans through the Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program.
As the only institution in continental Europe participating in this initiative, Sciences Po offers a world-class education in the social sciences and humanities, preparing students for success in the global job market.
The program aims to enable 30 million young Africans to secure dignified and fulfilling employment by 2030 as part of the Mastercard Foundation’s Young Africa Works strategy.

Courses Available
Scholars can apply to any of the two-year Master’s programs offered at Sciences Po’s seven graduate schools. Programs are taught entirely in English, French, or a combination of both languages.
Applicants should carefully review the language requirements for their chosen program.
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for the Sciences Po Mastercard Foundation Scholarship, candidates must:
- Hold citizenship in a Sub-Saharan African country
- Have completed or be currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree at a partner institution
- Demonstrate financial need (documentation required)
- Show commitment to achieving change in Africa, particularly in public policy and societal transitions
- Be under 35 years old at the start of the Master’s program
- Not already hold or be completing a Master’s degree
- Meet the language requirements for their chosen program (C1 level in French or English)

How to Apply
The application process for the 2025 Sciences Po Mastercard Foundation Scholarship involves the following steps:
- Check your eligibility: Submit your information on the scholarship website to confirm that you meet all eligibility criteria. Eligible applicants will have their Sciences Po application fee waived. Complete this step by November 26, 2024.
- Apply to Sciences Po: Submit your application for admission to Sciences Po through the international graduate admissions procedure. Wait for confirmation of your scholarship eligibility before submitting your Sciences Po application to have the fee waived. The deadline for Sciences Po applications is December 3, 2024.
- Await results: Sciences Po admissions decisions will be released between February 10-22, 2025. Scholarship allocation decisions will be announced from March 8, 2025.
Important: Admission to Sciences Po does not guarantee allocation of the scholarship. Scholars who defer admission will forfeit their Mastercard Foundation Scholarship.
