About the Scholarship
The UBC International Scholars Program offers four categories of prestigious awards:
- Karen McKellin International Leader of Tomorrow Award:Â Recognizes exceptional students demonstrating superior academic achievement and exemplary leadership skills.
- Donald A. Wehrung International Student Award:Â For outstanding students from impoverished or war-torn areas who have achieved academic excellence under challenging circumstances.
- International Impact Award:Â Offered to exceptional students committed to addressing social justice issues, climate change, equity and inclusion, and other global challenges.
- Vantage One Excellence Award:Â For academically outstanding students who do not yet meet UBC’s English Language Admission Standard for direct entry.

- Bachelor of Dental Science in Dental Hygiene

- Bachelor of Science (Applied Animal Biology)
- Bachelor of Science (Food, Nutrition and Health)
- Bachelor of Science (Global Resource Systems)
Eligibility Criteria
To be considered for the UBC International Scholars Program, applicants must:
- Be an international student studying in Canada on a Canadian study permit
- Enter UBC from a recognized secondary school or transfer from first year at a post-secondary institution
- Have graduated from high school no earlier than June 2023 (for 2025 entry)
- Apply for their first undergraduate degree
- Demonstrate superior academic achievement (all As or equivalent)
- Show financial need that would prevent them from pursuing a UBC degree without assistance
- Meet UBC’s admission requirements, including English Language Admission Standard
Note:Â Applicants for the Vantage One Excellence Award must not yet meet the English Language Admission Standard for direct UBC admission but must meet UBC Vantage College admission requirements.
