What is the Sasol Mining Fence-Line Bursary?
The Sasol Mining Fence-Line Bursary Programme aims to attract and develop the brightest young minds to join their organization. It provides full funding for students pursuing Bachelor’s degrees in Engineering, Engineering Technology, or Geology at South African institutions.

Who Can Apply for the Sasol Mining Bursary?
To be eligible for the 2025 Sasol Mining Fence-Line Bursary, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Be a South African citizen
- Reside in a municipality in Gauteng, Mpumalanga or the Free State
- Be registered as a full-time 1st to 4th year student at a recognized South African university
- Pursue an undergraduate Bachelor’s degree in the following fields:Electrical Engineering
- Electronic Engineering
- Geology (Honours degree required)
- Industrial Engineering
- Mechanical Engineering
- Mining Engineering
- Mine Surveying (University of Johannesburg only)
Grade 12 applicants must have achieved the following minimum results:
- 70-79% in Mathematics
- 70-79% in Physical Science
- 60-69% in English First Additional Language OR
- 60-69% in English Home Language OR
- 50-59% in English Second Additional Language
University students must submit their previous year’s results, meeting the minimum requirements for their degree.
All applicants will undergo online psychometric testing and interviews as part of the selection process. Successful candidates will have a work-back obligation with Sasol.
