Courses Available

The Emile Boutmy Scholarship is open to students admitted to Sciences Po’s undergraduate or master’s programs. Some of the renowned graduate programs international students can apply to include:

  • Master in International Public Management
  • Master in International Economic Policy
  • Master in Human Rights and Humanitarian Action
  • Master in Environmental Policy
  • Master in International Development
  • Master in Journalism and International Affairs (dual degree with Columbia University)

Undergraduate students can pursue the Bachelor of Arts degree with a multidisciplinary curriculum in the social sciences and humanities. The program includes a year of study abroad at one of Sciences Po’s 470 partner universities.

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for the Emile Boutmy Scholarship, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • First-time applicant to Sciences Po
  • Citizen of a country outside the European Union
  • Household does not file taxes within the European Union
  • Admitted to an undergraduate or master’s program at Sciences Po

The following candidates are not eligible:

  • Swiss and Norwegian applicants (may qualify for CROUS scholarships)
  • Dual citizens, including an EU citizenship
  • Quebec master’s applicants (eligible for sliding scale fees)
  • Most dual degree candidates, except those applying to:Dual degree in Journalism with Columbia University
  • Dual degree with Fudan University (Chinese nationals only)
  • Dual degree with Peking University (Chinese nationals only)
  • PhD students
  • 1-year master’s candidates
  • Exchange students
  • Candidates applying via French graduate admission procedure

The scholarship cannot be combined with other scholarships like the Eiffel or AEFE.

Scholarship Benefits

The Emile Boutmy Scholarship provides substantial funding for the duration of the recipient’s studies at Sciences Po.

For the 3-year bachelor’s program, the scholarship can take the form of:

  • Tuition grant of €14,210 per year
  • Tuition grant of €9,500 per year
  • Tuition grant of €6,500 per year
  • Tuition grant of €3,900 per year

The scholarship is automatically renewed if the student maintains good academic standing and continues to graduate studies at Sciences Po.

For the 2-year master’s program, the scholarship provides:

  • Tuition grant of €13,100 per year (2023 amount, 2025 amount TBC)

The master’s scholarship amount is set at admission but may be adjusted yearly based on tuition fee increases.

For both bachelor’s and master’s recipients, the scholarship is lost if the student fails to advance to the next academic year or defers admission.

How to Apply

The Emile Boutmy Scholarship is not awarded automatically. To apply, candidates must indicate their interest in the “Financial Information” section of the Sciences Po application.

Applicants may be asked to provide proof of income and documents explaining their family situation.

The application deadline for the 2025 intake is:

  • 3 December 2024 for Master’s programs
  • 21 February 2025 for undergraduate programs

No scholarship applications are accepted after the applicant submits their Sciences Po application.
